Semester 1 - Project 2 - When Balls go Bad - Character Design.

In this brief we were asked to "show your chosen ball interacting with an environment."
An early idea was if someone were to swallow the ball, and show its journey through the digestive system. But as the idea developed I decided to show more about how the ball were to end up in the body using an interaction between two characters, as well as the journey though the body. When designing the characters, I wanted to make sure they were distinguishable from one another.

Character A:  Frankly he's pretty nasty looking, and i wanted to make him that way. The sketchy kind of line i used was something I thought suited his face, and was something i wanted to carry on into the final animation.

Character B: I wanted him to be recognisably different, so no tie, fully bald, with different features

The level of detail in the characters meant that the line drawings I used for the animation tended to vary (the lines for the stubble, the shading on the lips etc.) giving the characters a bit of a wiggly animation. When first seeing it, I felt it suited the style in which I had sketched them in, so i decided to keep, and sometimes emphasise this effect.
